How to practice with your singing Voice

Lots of people know their vocal cord range but not any good practice songs to start learning to use it properly. So here are some tips for any vocal ranges.

First you need to warm up

Regardless of your vocal range you need to warm up your vocal cords to make sure you don't overstrain them. Start by singing scales slowly for about quarter of an hour. When your voice feels comfortable you can start singing your practice songs.

Pick the right songs

Choose songs that fall into your range so you have the best chance of singing well and finding your voice. Sing along with the recordings when your beginning to help you hit the right notes and are comfortable with the songs. You could also try the songs without the recordings when you think you are ready. You can try the vocals while only playing the instrumentals. Give all types of music a chance you may discover you can sing country extremely well even if its not your preferred genre.

Record yourself singing

Use a tape recorder or another recording device to record yourself singing after you have warmed up and practiced. Take note of the good and bad points so you know what you need to work on and what you're doing well.

Perform for people

sometimes its hard to tell what you need to do to improve so perform for your family or friends and ask them for their honest opinions if you feel up for it you could also try a karaoke bar.
